Jeff Leibow, former star of JERSEY BOYS, is bringing his successful Las Vegas concert back to Chicago and with it, the fight against Neurofibromatosis (NF). Chicago's 2nd Annual NF Hope Concert is set to take place at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Arlington Heights. Proceeds from the event will benefit Neurofibromatosis Network, an organization serving families and individuals suffering with this common, yet seldom supported neurological disorder.

The concert, produced by former JERSEY BOYS star Jeff Leibow and his wife, Melody, will draw from Chicago's endless supply of local talent and will include:

Gavin Coyle, Daniel Tatar, Jeff Leibow and more.

The event is inspired by the Leibows' daughter, Emma, who was diagnosed with NF in 2010 at the age of nine months. NF is a genetic disorder of the nervous system characterized by tumors that can grow on any nerve in the body without warning. Leibow and his wife, Melody, conceived the idea for the concert upon the realization that they had an obligation to their daughter and the 128,000 people living with NF in the US alone to educate others about the disorder. Since its inception in 2011, the NF Concert has raised more than three-quarters of a million dollars for Neurofibromatosis research and advocacy.

Siamsa na nGael has become a well-known and anticipated event in Chicago, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by presenting unique, world-class Celtic entertainment.  The 2018 Siamsa na nGael’s will showcase some of the finest Celtic artists in Chicago and throughout the world.

The performance will tell the story of two slave liberators: an Irishman named Daniel “the Liberator” O’Connell and a slave turned liberator named Frederick Douglass, who joined forces to become “drum majors for justice.” They developed a strong friendship and traveled together around Ireland speaking out against injustice and oppression in all its forms. During this evening’s performance we will look at their life stories to better understand how we can strive to wipe out injustice, oppression, and slavery in our present world.

The story of this unique and powerful friendship will be told through story, music, and dance. The tales will be narrated and celebrated through performances by soloists Alfreda Burke, Gavin Coyle, Catherine O’Connell, and Rodrick Dixon; by the Metropolis Symphony Orchestra, the 100-voice Old St. Patrick’s Concert Choir, the step dancing of the Trinity Irish Dancers, the Irish Trad Band, the After School Matters singers, special guest narrators and many more.

Stories will be told of how music has the gift to bring disparate groups of people together and its ability to rise above the walls of prejudice. The African and Irish and Scots Irish "came together" to create a new style of music in the Appalachian region of the United States. That coming together continues today in many ways but especially musically in bluegrass and country music.
